Το Europe Direct έδωσε το παρών σε εκδήλωση αφιερωμένη στη νεολαία, Σάββατο 21 Φεβρουαρίου 2026, κατόπιν πρόσκλησης, με στόχο να αναδείξει τη σημασία της συστηματικής ενημέρωσης των νέων για τα πολυάριθμα ευρωπαϊκά προγράμματα που τους στηρίζουν και απορρέουν άμεσα από την ευρωπαϊκή τους ιθαγένεια.
Κατά τη διάρκεια της εκδήλωσης τονίστηκε ότι η Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση προσφέρει ουσιαστικά εργαλεία ενδυνάμωσης των νέων, όπως ευκαιρίες εκπαίδευσης, κινητικότητας, απασχόλησης και ενεργού συμμετοχής στα κοινά. Το Europe Direct υπογράμμισε τον ρόλο του ως σημείο αναφοράς για έγκυρη πληροφόρηση, καθοδήγηση και σύνδεση των νέων με τις διαθέσιμες ευρωπαϊκές δυνατότητες.
Ιδιαίτερη σημασία είχε η παρουσία της Επιτροπής Νεολαίας της Ένωση Κωφών Βορείου Ελλάδος, με ταυτόχρονη διερμηνεία στην ελληνική νοηματική γλώσσα, ενισχύοντας το μήνυμα της συμπερίληψης και της ισότιμης πρόσβασης στην ενημέρωση.
Στην εκδήλωση παρευρέθηκαν και απηύθυναν χαιρετισμό εκπρόσωπος του Υφυπουργού Ανάπτυξης, Σταύρου Καλαφάτη, ο Δημήτρης Κούβελας, βουλευτής της Νέα Δημοκρατίας, η Κατερίνα Νοτοπούλου και η Ράνια Θρασκιά , βουλεύτριες του ΣΥΡΙΖΑ, η Όλια Βασιλάκη Καροζη, περιφερειακή σύμβουλος, ο Γενικός Γραμματέας του Δήμος Θεσσαλονίκης, Μ. Μήττας, ο Αντιδήμαρχος Νεολαίας Σ. Τζελέπης, η Έ. Ρουσσάκη από την Ένωση Γυναικών Ελλάδος – παράρτημα Θεσσαλονίκης, καθώς και εκπρόσωποι των Δημοτικών Συμβουλίων Κορδελιού και Καλαμαριάς.
Η εκδήλωση ανέδειξε τη σημασία της συνεργασίας ευρωπαϊκών δομών, τοπικής αυτοδιοίκησης και φορέων της κοινωνίας των πολιτών, με κοινό στόχο την ενδυνάμωση των νέων και την αξιοποίηση των ευκαιριών που προσφέρει η ευρωπαϊκή ιδιότητα του πολίτη.

Europe Direct’s Participation in Youth-Focused Event Highlighting European Opportunities
The Europe Direct participated, on Saturday February 21st, following an official invitation, in a youth-focused event aimed at highlighting the importance of consistently informing young people about the wide range of European programmes available to them—opportunities that stem directly from their European citizenship.
During the event, emphasis was placed on the fact that the European Union provides substantial tools for youth empowerment, including opportunities in education, mobility, employment, volunteering, and civic engagement. Europe Direct underlined its role as a key point of reference for reliable information, guidance, and support in connecting young people with European initiatives and funding programmes.
The presence of the Youth Committee of the deaf asssiciation is northern. Greece was particularly significant. Simultaneous interpretation in Greek Sign Language was provided, reinforcing the message of inclusion and equal access to information for all young citizens.
Among those in attendance were representative of the Deputy Minister of Development for Research and Innovation, Stavros Kalafatis, Dimitris Kouvelas, Member of the Parliament of New Democracy, Katerina Notopoulou and Rania Thraskia, Members of the Parliament of SYRIZA, Olia Vasilaki Karozi, regional councilor, the Secretary General of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, M. Mittas, the Deputy Mayor for Youth, S. Tzelepis, Ms. E. Roussaki from the Union of Women of Greece – Thessaloniki Branch, as well as representatives of the Municipal Councils of Kordelio and Kalamaria.
The event highlighted the importance of cooperation between European institutions, local authorities, and civil society organisations, with the shared goal of empowering young people and ensuring they fully benefit from the rights and opportunities derived from their European citizenship.
