INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT OF THESSALONIKI “MACEDONIA”

Transit bus service is provided between the Airport and the city of Thessaloniki, with connections to the Central Railway Station and the “Makedonia” Regional Coach Terminal (KTEL).

Bus service runs every 30 minutes and the journey to the city center takes about 40 – 50 minutes.

Non-stop service to and from the city centre:

  • Bus Route Nr. N1 “KTEL – Airport ” (Night Service)

To and from Chalkidiki Coach Terminal (KTEL), Thessaloniki City Centre and Thessaloniki Eastbound Destinations (via “IKEA” Transfer Point)

Thessaloniki Eastbound Service

Single fare is 2€. Tickets can be purchased by vending machines on board the service. On-board vending machines accept exact change only.

Students and Senior citizens (65 years of age or older) are eligible for 50% reduction; children aged 6 and younger travel free of charge.

THESSALONIKI PORT AUTHORITY SA

For 2300 years, since its foundation in 315/6 BC and up until today, the port of Thessaloniki constitutes the most important port in Macedonia and one of the most important ports in Southeast Europe.

Due to the temperate climate, the well protected from weather conditions approach, the existence of a 1000m-long wave breaker which protects the port from the southern winds, the almost null tide, (maximum height of 0.7m) and the port’s secure installations, the loading and unloading of cargoes as well as the embarkment/disembarkment of passengers on the ships are taking place unhindered, throughout the year.

It has been characterized as a Port of National Interest in the Country’s Coast-guard System, (National Gazette ΦΕΚ 202Β/16.2.07) and one of the five Greek ports, which belongs to the Core Network of Trans-European Transport Networks.

It is located at a distance of 1km from the Passenger Railway Station and 16km from the city’s International Airport.

RAILWAY STATION OF THESSALONIKI

Two kilometers from the center of Thessaloniki at 28, Monastiriou Str., Is Thessaloniki Railway Station, which serves hundreds of citizens and visitors daily through the various suburban lines and the interurban network.

TRAINOSE SA is the main provider (until now the only one) of rail transport for passengers and freight.

TRAINOSE SA performs 342 routes (passenger and commercial trains) a day. In 2016, a total of 15.6 million passengers were transported, of which 10.1 million used the suburban lines and 5.5 million the national network. A total of 1.1 million tonnes of goods were also transferred.

KTEL

The 14 505 service operates 24 hours a day.All routes are automatically provided(from city to city).

The user can request extra information such as ticket prices, bookings and extra services linked to the KTEL’s Call Center, which provides him with these capabilities.

MAKEDONIA Intercity Bus Bus Station

Macedonia Intercity Coache Station is located 5km west of Thessaloniki city centre. It is easily accessible from the city centre as well as from the new west hub of the city via which it is directly connected with Thessaloniki’s ring road.
