        From the outskirts of Ano Poli to the beach, and from the White Tower to the port, the First Municipal Community is for all of us, visitors and residents of this city, Thessaloniki itself. The Roman palaces and its Byzantine churches, the Ottoman mosques and the Jewish synagogue summarize the multifaceted history of a unique city, whose inhabitants proudly called it "Bride of Thermaikos" and "Rose of the Sultan" and "Jerusalem" of Jerusalem. Its Roman market and Bezesteni, the district of the Frangon and Venizelou reveal its inexhaustible economic dynamism. And its modern street plan, the ability of Thessaloniki to change and adapt creatively to the challenges of the times. To accept the refugees from Pontus and Asia Minor to be constantly growing.

        Since 1982, the Municipality of Thessaloniki has been divided by law into five Municipal Districts, already 6 Municipal Communities in respective municipal stores and the same bodies. The 2nd Municipal Community of the Municipality of Thessaloniki extends to the west side of Thessaloniki, has an area of 330 hectares and a population of about 35.000 inhabitants.

TSOPELA EFS. LIEUT.

Efstathios Tsopelas was born in 1920 in Athens and he was an army officer. Fighting with the Sacred Squadron as a lieutenant, he was killed on Symi island (Dodecanese), on the 14th of July 1944.
