Athanasios Tsakalov- Tekelis or Tsakalos was born in Ioannina and died in Moscow in 1851. He was one of the founders of Filiki Eteria, the secret organisation aiming at preparing the liberation of the enslaved Greeks. He took part to the Revolution of 1821 and he was also the plenipotentiary of Epirus at the 4th National Assembly of Argos.
