Three organizations in Thessaloniki are joining together to welcome the New Year in a very melodious way.  The Region of Central Macedonia Cultural Center, the Thessaloniki Administration of Culture and Tourism, and the Thessaloniki Concert Hall are organizing a special evening replete with the most emblematic works of Broadway musicals and the greatest melodies from Hollywood movies.

Wednesday January 9th, 9:00 pm at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall in the Friends of Music Auditorium (M1), the audience will enjoy musical renditions from works such as ‘’Cabaret’’, ‘’James Bond’’, ‘’The Godfather’’, ‘’Cats’’, ‘’Mamma Mia’’ etc. as performed by the Thessaloniki City Symphony Orchestra under the direction of maestro Lisa Xanthopoulou.

Five renowned artists with distinguished careers in lyrical theater and musicals will be appearing as soloists in the concert.

Dance, lighting, scenery and costumes will highlight the performance and will help transport the concert-goers to imagine themselves in the fanciest and most glitzy of Broadway’s musical theaters.

Admittance to the public is free with an entrance voucher.

In lieu of selling tickets we are collecting evaporated milk which will be distributed to «Assistance Thessaloniki» and to the non-profit organization «Society of Love and Offering—Gerontas Paisios».

 «Assistance Thessaloniki» is a group of volunteer citizens who do not accept monetary or pharmaceutical donations, but rather collect everyday non-perishable food supplies and other essential items.  These supplies are then given to single parent families or to families with two unemployed parents, or in general, to people whom the crisis has brought to a level of bare survival, even impoverishment.

The non-profit organization «Society of Love and Offering—Gerontas Paisios» performs a huge amount of social solidarity and assistance.  Their efforts depend exclusively on love, help, and volunteering.  The many areas of their social intervention include:  Community soup kitchens, three community grocery stores (Trilofos, Peraia, Arnaia), two community medical care facilities—pharmacies, blood banks, and many other activities.
