Aristotelis Valaoritis was a poet and politician. He was born in 1824 in Lefkada. His family came from Valaora of Acheloos and from there they got their name. He got a doctorate in law in Paris at the age of 24.He fought for the Union of the Ionian Islands with Greece and after its completion, he was elected as the first representative of the Ionian Islands to the National Assembly of Athens. He died in 1879.
