The street was named after the adjacent Holy Church of Panagia Dexia. The church was founded in the 50s and it was built on the location of the old church of Agios Ypatios. The church, where the icon of Panagia Eleousa is guarded, celebrates on 21 of November, on the anniversary of the Presentation of Mary.
