Isaiah was an Israelite prophet. He lived in the 8th century B.C. and he wrote the homonymous book of the Bible. He is commemorated by the Orthodox Church on the 9th of May. Isaiah was also the name of a Patriarch of Constantinople (1323-1334). He was born in Epirus and before he became Patriarch, he had been a monk on Mount Athos.
