Chrysostomos Kalafatis was born in Triglia of Vithynia in 1867 and died in 1922 in Smyrna, Minor Asia. He was the Metropolitan Bishop of Drama and Philippoi (1902-1910) and then, of Smyrna (1910-1922). He martyred during the Burning of Smyrna. He is commemorated by the Orthodox Church the Sunday before the Exaltation of the Holy Cross.
