Stratis Myrivilis was born in 1892 on Lesvos and died in 1969 in Athens. His real name was Efstratios Stamatopoulos. He was a novelist and journalist. In 1958 he became a member of the Athens Academy. He is considered to be a representative of the literary generation of the ’30s and he left a prodigious amount of work.
