Nikolaos Stournaras (1806-1853) was a national benefactor from Metsovo. He was a rich merchant in Italy and Alexandria, Egypt. He donated his property for charity and for the public benefit. He sponsored the construction of part of the National Technical University of Athens. It was also the name of a renowned chieftain from Stournaraiika near Trikala (1778-1826). He was initiated in Filiki Eteria and he fought mainly in Central Greece. He was killed during the Exodus of Messolonghi.
